Iain Taylor Biography
"Iain Taylor kicked off his DJ career at the Haçienda in 1995 and has since been involved with many fine parties around the UK, including Airtight, Back To Basics, Chibuku, Fabric, The Bomb and Stealth in Nottingham, The Custard Factory in Birmingham, Audio in Brighton, The Sub Club In Glasgow and many many more, most notably a six-year stint for Tribal Sessions at Sankeys Soap. In that time he’s also managed to set up and maintain a ground breaking record label whilst DJing all over Europe and then the wider world with tours through China, South East Asia, Australia, The USA and South America, and in particular with parties on some rock called Ibiza where he now holds a residency with Space for their flagship deep house weekly KEHAKUMA. DJ Magazine saw fit to describe him as “DJ, producer, promoter, miscreant and thoroughly decent chap”, which just about sums it up. A chance meeting led to his collaboration with Ma Saski, Himself a veteran of the Second Summer of Love, and equally hacked off with the state of clubland, Ma Saski aims to bring back the energy of those pioneering Blackburn raves and as such, has found a kindred spirit in Iain.
As a producer his rEJEKTS project with fellow Mancunion Mark Ashworth has released on labels like Dirtybird, Ohm, Exun and Peepshow with the main body of their work released through their own Rejekt Music label. rEJEKT productions have worked their way into the set’s of Sven Vath, LocoDice , Layo & Bushwacka, MANDY , Sasha, John Digweed , Ritchie Hawtin, Claude Von Stroke, MR C, DJ Hell, Nick Faniculli, Funk D Void, Stephan Bodzin, Dubfire, Steve Lawler, Tania Vulcano, The Italoboys, John Tejada, Phil Keiron, Exercise One, Pan Pot, Martyn Eyer, James Lavelle & even the likes of Jaques Le Cont & Hernan Catenaeo. This list being just the tip of the musical iceberg but already shows a diversity which is displayed through Iain’s various musical aliases and a diversity which shines through in the way he carefully maps out his DJ sets working crowds into a frenzy with super tight mixing over 3 and 4 decks, throwing down layer after layer of deep hypnotic rhythms interspersed with the subtle use of vocals and accapella’s to engage the audience with a story.
“So do you think society welcomes you to its bosom? Well, If you live out your life in discos it means you… like all of us… have been necessarily ejected from polite society. Discos are the only places that will have us now. Join us. We are all Rejekts”
